I don't understand what's going on here? I installed this D3Doverrider thing, and it did nothing.
I want to force it in AC4. And once I download it how do I use it? Where can I download D3DOverrider to force Triple Buffering? And for windows 10?
I was getting minor, minor stutter before the install, and I'm still getting it afterwards. Here's what I don't understand. Some people are saying that this game displays either at 60 or at 30 FPS. Then why has MSI's frame counter been saying that I'm constantly in the mid-50's when I'm in a busy town?
Sometimes the counter will drop below 50, into the high 40's, but almost never does it go below. I've never seen my frames go from 60 right down to 30. So what's the deal? Yeah, your right Uncle Dude, Inspector is for OGL only right now, it seems M$ won't let Nvidia have TB cause, well, M$, damn shame d3doverider is no longer updated, i'm hearing about more and more issues with d3doverider in win 8 enviroments and compatability issues, i fear that the next iteration of Windows may make it it outright obsolete.
However, further reading suggests Radeon Pro can force Triple Buffering and vsync in d3d games for Nvidia cards as well, you just can't use AMD specific features with Radeon Pro EDIT: @mickster, try running both d3doverider and Black Flag in vista sp2 compatability mode.
I saw a couple of topics about this on Steam forum, so I'm not alone in this, it seems. 3570k @ 4,2 GHz, 16 Gb DDR3, Win 10x64, GTX 1080 OC, all drivers updated, and the game seems to stutter regardless settings. Decreasing setings, things seems to be smoother, but not completely stuttering free. Any suggestion/advice to runs it fine? Same here with i5 6600K, GTX 1070 STRIX OC. FPS going from 60 to 40 evertime, it's so annoying.
I've tried to set all graphcis option to low, nothing changes. Some days ago I was trying to play this game fully maxed out and I just got 40-55 fps all the time on GTX 1080 and i7 3770k with extreme stuttering in 1080p. In short, this game has horrible Physx implementation and incompatibility with both modern hardware and software. So, I have i7 3770k 4.2 GHz, GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING X 8G, 16 Gb DDR3 RAM and Windows 10 Creators Update, Nvidia drivers ver.

Run the game and max out your settings except Physx and MSAA: set Physx to LOW and MSAA x4. I was trying to compare MSAA x4 and MSAA x8 but didn't find any difference at all, btw my GPU usage is 25% lower with MSAA x4 so this can increase your performance in 1440p or above. If you can't see any improvements with Physx on Low just disable it completely not just ingame, but in NVCP too (I mean you should set your CPU for Physx, this will remove Physx slider setting in game). Honestly I don't recommend it, you can play the game fine with Physx on Low, just don't try to set it to High, Very High etc.
You'll get constant 59-61 fps (I know, this is far from constant lol), but ACBF will not be felt smooth. You can't fix it without force Triple Buffering and Vsync. D3DOverrider can help you with this, download this tool, set your refresh rate on 60 Hz and disable ingame Vsync (or NVCP Vsync too). Run D3DOverrider and disable global profile, you don't need it. Add new profile with ACBF EXEs (SP, MP or both) and set force Triple Buffering + Vsync. If your game crashes with D3DOverrider and RTSS (MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision XOC) then simply block RTSS overlay (OSD) server in RTSS settings.
Just a heads up: D3DOverrider is fully compatible with Windows 10 Creators Update and ACBF. Another workaround: get GTX 680 and windows 7 with outdated drivers and you'll be able to use Physx on Max settings. Shame on you Ubi and Nvidia. Sorry for my bad English. P.p.s I can't fix FPS drops in AC3 lol, I think I should try Windows 7, who knows.
Upd: It took me 3 hours to figure it out that MFAA is broken in AC3. Once disabled everything is ok, no more frame drops to 40 fps. I am the OP of the thread on Steam: And along with all the fellow 1000 series GPU owners, I am experiencing microstuttering on my 1080 Ti regardless of setting which was NOT present when I completed the game with 100% sync in 2014 on a GTX 780 Ti and Windows 7. Please Ubisoft, look into this. I am a diehard Assassin's Creed fan replaying all the tiotles to get ready for Origins like many of us are and am saddened top see this newly introduced issue. Black Flag is easily one of the most enjoyable, unique and visually impressive Assassin's Creed games in the franchise, especially on the PC and it would be a huge shame to see such an amazing title go to waste because of this problem.
